Help Bring Comfort to SickKids

You might be as surprised as I was to find out that SickKids Hospital needs $2.5 million to replace many of their aging beds and stretchers. SavvyMom.ca is trying to raise $20,000 to buy 50 new therapeutic crib mattresses for the comfort of the tiniest patients in the hospital. Sick Kids truly requires new beds and cribs. I hope you can donate to this worthy cause. My son Massimo spent 6 months at Sick Kids and I can tell you that the cribs there are in very poor shape.

Christmas Orders

The Holiday Season is quickly approaching. We are receiving tons of orders so to avoid disappointment, we have set our cut-off deadline for holiday orders to November 15, 2008. Orders placed after that date will be shipped after Christmas.

It's Been Awhile.....

It has been hard to blog lately. Summer has been very busy with the family.

I just wanted to keep you up to date that our studio will be closed from Sept 3 - Oct 3/08. My mom will be on a well deserved vacation and attending my cousin's wedding in Italy.

I will still be around to answer any questions that you may have. All orders received will be processed after October 3. The holidays are just a few months away!

Fun Things For Boys

The common complaint I hear all the time is that there is a limited selection of stylish things for boys!

I know what they are talking about! When I had my son it was so hard to find nice things for boys. There was a huge section for girls and a small space dedicated for boys. When designing my bibs, I searched high and low for stylish and fun prints for boys! Our bibs have been designed for total coverage. We've sandwiched a waterproof inner lining to prevent your child from getting wet.

Our Pillows

Our pillows are a perfect addition to finish off your gift. The pillows come in two different sizes 14" x 14" or 16" x 16". The outer layer is removable for easy washing. I've been giving the pillows away as birthday gifts for my daughter's friends. It so hard to know what to give so at least I know this is personal and cannot be duplicated.

Mimi & Lola?

So alot of you are wondering who's Mimi & Lola? My name is Laura and my mom's name is Lidia. When choosing our company name, we were thinking of the following:

We wanted a catchy but fun name. We didn't want to limit our company name to just blankets. And in the future we wanted to expand our blankets for adults. So we came up with Designs By Mimi & Lola. Mimi is my daughter Madeleine's nickname. I think it's cute and fun. Lola is my nickname. I was labeled on my wedding day. The French Jesuit priest filling in for my parish priest could not pronounce my name no matter how many times I corrected him. By the end of the night everyone was calling me Lola!

To this day, my friends still call me Lola.
